Services
Websites, practical software, and help with the technology your business depends on.
I'm Sean, an independent developer working with small businesses around Boulder, Denver, and the Front Range, as well as remotely. Bring the problem in your own words: a website that needs attention, software that doesn't fit the way you work, or a task you're tired of doing by hand. The starting point is understanding what you need, then finding a sensible way to get there.
Get in touchWebsites
A useful website should make it easy for people to understand your business and take the next step. That might mean a straightforward site with your hours and contact details, or a portfolio, event calendar, and a way to update your own content. I can build a new site or improve an existing one, with attention to readable pages, clear navigation, and phones as well as computers.
A clear home for your services, hours, location, and contact information.
Artwork, products, events, or classes presented in a way you can keep current.
Updates, repairs, and a simpler way to manage an existing website.
Custom business software
Sometimes the software you already use needs a small improvement. Sometimes a process spread across several tools needs a more practical home. I build focused applications around the way your business works, with clear screens and access for the people who need them. We'll look at suitable existing tools first and choose custom software when it solves a specific problem without creating unnecessary complexity.
Track stock, orders, or customer information in one place.
Manage appointments, bookings, classes, or registrations.
Give staff a simple dashboard for everyday administrative work.
Automation
Repeated copying, sorting, and checking can consume time that belongs elsewhere. I can help connect the tools you use, move information between them, and turn a recurring task into a repeatable process. The aim is a small, understandable improvement. Where judgment or approval matters, the process can keep a person involved rather than making decisions on their behalf.
Bring information from forms or files into the application where you need it.
Prepare recurring reports, exports, or routine records.
Connect systems so the same information doesn't need entering twice.
Open-source setup
An existing open-source application can be a good fit when a subscription tool is too restrictive, too expensive, or simply unsuitable. I can help assess an option, set it up, move your information, and make it usable for your business. Running your own software also brings maintenance responsibilities, so we'll consider the costs and ongoing care alongside the features before choosing it.
File sharing and synchronization that fit how you work.
Collaborative tools or a business application configured for your needs.
A planned move from an existing tool, with attention to your data.
Technical support
You don't need to know what's broken before asking for help. I can investigate problems with websites, domains, email, accounts, servers, and the connections between them, then explain what I've found in plain language. Some problems can be resolved remotely; others need a different specialist or provider. I'll be clear about what I can take on and where another route makes more sense.
Find out why a website is failing or isn't showing the right information.
Untangle domain, email, account, or access problems.
Configure an existing tool properly and make it easier to use.
Ongoing care
A website or application needs attention after it goes live. My preference is to stay involved: help operate what we build, maintain it, and provide a clear place to ask for support. That can include hosting and application care, rather than leaving you to learn how to run a server.
The arrangement should match the project and your needs. Before taking on ongoing care, we'll agree on the scope, costs, access, responsibilities, and what happens if you later want to move elsewhere.
Deployment and hosting setup for the agreed application.
Planned updates, backups, and monitoring appropriate to the project.
Troubleshooting and agreed changes as your needs develop.
Support availability, backup arrangements, and response expectations are agreed for each project.
How we can work together
Start with the problem
Tell me what's getting in the way, what you use now, and what a better result would look like. A short email is enough to begin.
Agree on a sensible scope
We'll discuss the options, what the work includes, how it will be priced, and any ongoing responsibilities before moving ahead.
Build, check, and explain
We'll check the result against the agreed needs. You'll have a chance to try it, ask questions, and understand how to use it.
What would make your work easier?
Tell me a little about your business and the problem you're trying to solve. You don't need a technical brief or the right terminology, and there's no account to create. Written questions are welcome.
